The diversity of his work can be found in the streetscapes and focal points of public streetscapes and homes.
D.H.Elzer's artistic and literary contributions, cultural and political commentaries have touched many Canadians, however he is still considered an unknown in both literary and visual art circles.

Don Elzer began to create edition in variation mixed media ceramic masks in 1991. They began as editions of eight with three artists proofs, and a single original. Each mask is hand-made and as the classification suggests is one-of-a-kind, however each edition shares some common characteristics in colour and composition and a common titled collectors certificate.
Each mask and its collectors certificate is individually signed and numbered and comes with a story or poem of how the work came about. Today, editions are in sets of twelve, with three artists proofs.
A great deal of time and care goes into creating an edition. Each mask has to be hand sculpted, dried, fired, sanded, polished painted then decorated. The process takes weeks, longer if obstacles occur.
Miniatures
In 1995 Don Elzer began to create a miniature version of his popular mixed media masks. The Monashee Nature Spirits have developed into detailed complexed and decorative one-of-akind works of art, each handpainted and individually decorated.
